CPSARA Members on the Gold Coast for the Commonwealth Games
Updated: Apr 20, 2018
With the Commonwealth Games coming to a close, we celebrate the successes of our Australian athletes, especially three of our own CPSARA members, Rohan Bright, Kailyn Joseph and Erin Cleaver. This was an exceptionally exciting campaign for all three athletes as this was their first experience of a Commonwealth Games, and was even a home Games too!
Rohan Bright competed in the S7 class for the 50m Freestyle, placing 5th with Personal Bests in both his Heats and Finals. Rohan competed up a class in the S8 for the 200m Individual Medley where he placed 6th and also got new Personal Bests in both his Heats and Finals. "I took 4 seconds off my 200 Medley time and 0.4 seconds off my 50 Freestyle time."
At only 15 years old, Kailyn Joesph was the youngest on the Australian Athletics Team. Being a T37, Kailyn had to compete up a classification and is very proud of her 4th place in the T38 Long Jump. "I think I did good through my performance, trying to calm my nerves and put my heart on that track. I wish I could go out there and do it all over again. Being a T37 was difficult competing with a higher class but was a honour to be able to do it. It was an unbelievable experience, words can’t explain how amazing it was out there! The atmosphere was outstanding and it made my heart beam when little kids asked for autographs and pictures."
Erin placed second in the T38 Long Jump before competing in the T38 100m where she placed 5th.
