CPSARA Cyclists success continues on World Stage

November has been a busy month for both Amanda Reid and Gordon Allan. The State and National Track Championships were both scheduled early with 2020 being an Olympic Year. Their results in both events were as follows – 2020 NSW Para-cycling Track Championships WC2 500m Time Trial – Amanda Reid GOLD (time – 39.385) MC2 1KM Time Trial – Gordon Allan GOLD ( time – 1.13.072) Amanda’s time was great, a NEW WORLD RECORD!! Unfortunately it’s unofficial as there were no ASADA officials at the event. Amanda and Gordon have been selected to represent Australia at the 2019- 2020 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup. This event was held at Brisbane’s Anna Meares Velodrome, December 13-15.
Gordon and Amanda both broke their respective para time trial world records at this event.
Both riders’ excellent results have also led to their selection in the Australian team for the 2020 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships Milton, Canada from 30th January to the 2nd of February. The Championships will provide the final opportunity to acquire the qualification points towards the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, with the Australian team to vie against 200 of the world’s best from 30 countries. Australia enjoyed superb results at the 2019 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships held last March, with the team finishing second on the medal standings with nine world titles in a glittering 17-medal haul.
Christmas will be a very busy time for the CPSARA cyclist’s as they look ahead to not only these upcoming championships but also the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
