QUEENS BATON RELAY THROUGH NSW

The Commonwealth Games are set to begin on the Gold Coast
4-15 April 2018. The Queen’s Baton Relay on its journey to the 2018 Commonwealth Games through Australia recently passed through Newcastle, Gosford on the Central Coast and Sydney! Three of our CPSARA members were selected to carry the torch due to their dedication to their sports and helping others succeed.
Maddie Elliot was nominated for her successes in swimming, having represented Australia at age 13 at the London 2012 Paralympic Games she became the youngest gold medallist for Australia. She was also selected for her community contribution as an ambassador for Variety Children's Charity to help kids like herself.
Ian Menzies was nominated for his tireless work with the NSW Cerebral Palsy soccer team.
Rae Anderson was nominated for both her athletics career and her voluntary work. Away from sport, Rae is a spokesperson for disability and positive body image, working with schools and health clinics to create a positive community view on disability and body image while also mentoring athletes from these programs and her athletics club.
