2020 CPSARA AWARD WINNERS STORIES - Indi
Over the next few months, we will showcase our 2020 CPSARA Award Winners. COVID19 restrictions meant that celebrating their achievements in person weren't possible this season. Instead, we will celebrate their stories together and hear from each of our athletes. Our award winners will share with us what these awards mean to them, their best achievements and favourite memories from last season as well as how they have adapted to overcome COVID19 and of course, their goals for next season and beyond!
Margaret & Allan Gregson Encouragement Female Athletics Award
Winning this award made me so happy that my hard work in athletics is being acknowledged.
My best achievements this season would have to be during the Little Athletics competitions that we managed to get in last season (before COVID). These competitions were encouraging for me as I set a fair few PB's.
Another highlight from this season was my big weekend at NSW juniors which showed that hard work and dedication to training with my coach is starting to pay off. I am really loving training with my coach. My results included Gold in 100m with a Personal Best and time of 14.63sec. I also won Gold in 200m with another Personal Best, Siver in 400m with a Personal Best, Silver in long jump and Bronze in 800m with another Personal Best. I also attended my Regional Little Athletics in Wollongong where I placed 1st in all of my 6 events (100,200,800, long jump, shot put and discus).
The highlight of my season would have been when I went to the AIS to the AACT T&F champs and placed 4th out of 7 in the open 100m. It was pretty cool running against Paralympians Tamsin, Carly Salmon and Ella Pardy.
COVID has been pretty tough, I have been training by myself for quite a few months now which has been really hard mentally, trying to get myself motivated, but with NSW Athletics just releasing new dates, I am very excited to see how my times will go up against other athletes.
My goal for next season is to get my 100m time down by another second and my 400m down as well. If I can do this, I feel I stand a really good chance to be internationally classified and my aim is the Commonwealth Games.
